Our Pequeñitos program introduces young dancers to the joy of Mexican folklórico in a supportive, engaging, and age-appropriate environment. These classes are taught by our advanced student teachers who have over 10 years of folklorico experience. Classes focus on building a love for dance while developing essential skills that prepare them for future levels.
Classes will be on Thursdays, beginning September 11th
Pequeñitos – Level 1
Time: 4:45 PM – 5:30 PM
Designed for our youngest and newest dancers, this class focuses on:
Basic movement and coordination
Beat recognition and rhythm exercises
Simple folklórico steps through playful activities
Building listening skills and following directions in a group setting
This is not a performing class. Instead, dancers will participate in a small end-of-quarter recital to showcase what they’ve learned to family and friends.
Time: 5:30 PM – 6:15 PM
For dancers who have been in our previous pequenitos class and are ready to build on the foundations learned in Level 1, this class focuses on:
Further developing technique and posture
Distinguishing between different folklórico steps
Learning dances and songs from a specific region of Mexico
Building stage presence and performance confidence to enter into our main group
Pequeñitos Level 2 dancers are invited to perform twice a year:
Summer: Annual Folklórico Festival
Winter: Winterfest Performance
If your dancer is new, they will be level 1.
If you have an existing dancer and are unclear if they are Level 1 or 2 please reach out to the teachers for confirmation.
